Summary of national biofuels policy and strategy – updated 26th September2008

Biofuels substitution targets

Targets: none set but under discussion. Possibility of a 5% biodiesel mandate.

Note: Biofuel Industry Bill of April 16, 2007 provides for development of biofuel industry.

National policy and trends in biofuels crop development

Approximately 500,000 tonnes of palm oil would be required  each year to meet

the B5 mandate, only 3 percent of  Malaysian palm oil production.
